Olivia Newton-John To Walk Across Budapest On 2 October
This world famous Grammy-award winning singer will join a walk for charity over the Chain Bridge in Budapest to support Breast Cancer Awareness. This annual event was launched back in 2002 by then US Ambassador to Hungary Nancy Goodman Brinker. The walk aims to promote early screening for breast cancer, which is one of Hungary's top causes of death for women.

Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England on September 26th 1948; her family moved to Australia when she was 5. Her mother was German, daughter of the physicist Max Born, her father was Welsh, a professor of German at Cambridge and Melbourne. Despite the academic background, early on Olivia showed an interest in singing, the rest is history...

What many people do not know is that in 1992 on July 2 Olivia Newton-John found out she had breast cancer. She was taken to hospital and operated on, and then had to undergo a period of chemotherapy. In February the next year she got the all-clear. Since then she has been an active campaigner for breast cancer awareness aid.

She has raised money for a cancer support centre in Melbourne, Australia, which was named after her. In 2005 Olivia released Stronger Than Before, a CD of life-affirming songs with proceeds going to breast cancer awareness.

She's even walked the Great Wall of China in April 2008 to raise funds for her cancer centre. Olivia continues to tour the world, in Budapest again to support this local initiative to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Olivia Newton-John will also be in Hungary with her husband, “Amazon John” Easterling, owner and founder of the Amazon Herb Company.

“Amazon John” is a successful eco-entrepreneur and visionary leader who founded the Amazon Herb Company in 1990, holds a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of North Carolina and has spent many years searching the Amazon Rainforest for treasures and ancient artifacts. During his years of exploration in the Rainforest, he was introduced to the traditional use of medicinal plants.

She has long been a supporter of the Rainforest and believes that human health and healing is intricately linked to the health and well-being of our planet.
