Rózsavölgyi Chocolate Store In Budapest Winning Silver And Bronze Medals In London
Some years ago, Katalin Csiszár former graphic artist and cartoon-movie director and her husband realized that high-quality chocolate was not available in Hungary. Katalin decided to acquire the knowledge of the greatest masters of the chocolate-industry, so she signed up for the courses of French, Italian, and American experts.

Although generally the specialists were quite reclusive, some of them shared their secrets with her. Thus, she returned to Budapest with the knowledge of chocolate-professionals and developed further her experiences with her own and her husband’s ideas. Finally, Rózsavölgyi Chocolate Store was opened in September of 2008, in Királyi Pál utca, Budapest.

According to her, chocolate is something, which is simply special and especially simple. It is simple, because just a few ingredients are needed to create the not only wonderful, but also delicious bits. However, it is extraordinaire, that so many various types and possibilities can be created that everyone will find his or her favorite. The use of Hungarian ingredients -except for cocoa-beans- is of chief-importance to them. The traditional flavors and techniques are also essential. However, they are innovative and open-minded to new ideas.

When they opened their own shop in Királyi Pál Street, they faced a lot of problems and conflicts because the costumers were inexperienced in consuming real, first-class chocolates. So, Katalin had to educate them about the advantageous qualities of premium chocolates; she explained them for example, why the fresh, hand-made bon-bons couldn’t be stored for months as other chocolates with artificial ingredients.

Rózsavölgyi Chocolate Store is not only popular among Hungarian clients: also, the London Academy of Chocolate rewarded them. Last year, the shop won two medals for two different products. Their ancho-chilli and lemon oil flavored creation brought the silver award, while the sour cherry pálinka and raspberry flavor bon-bon was honored with a bronze medal.
