MTelekom Happy With Frequency Ruling In Hungary
Magyar Telekom is happy about the Capital Court ruling of last week to cancel the result of the 900MHz frequency tender, chairman and CEO Christopher Mattheisen told a Friday press conference. The decision makes it possible for the three incumbent mobile phone operators to obtain sufficient bandwidth, he noted.

Mattheisen suggested that that the three – Magyar Telekom, Telenor and Vodafone – would also be happy to obtain the 5MHz frequency, which was allocated in the tender to the state company MPVI.

The court ruled that frequencies cannot be allocated to state-owned companies.

“It is logical that the money paid for the frequencies should be paid back,” he argued.

Magyar Telekom has not used the frequencies it received in the cancelled tender result, Mattheisen said.

Meanwhile, Magyar Telekom is accepting pre-orders for the iPhone5, which will be sold from September 28.
