Budapest City Council Bans Homeless From Public Areas
Budapest city council on Thursday banned the homeless from living in underpasses, playgrounds, bus and tram stops and other public areas. The 21 Fidesz and Jobbik members supported the proposal, while the 12 Socialist Party and Dialogue for Hungary councillors opposed it.

A demonstration against the ban delayed the council session by several hours, as activists from The City Belongs to All occupied the chamber.

Police were called to forcibly remove them, after which the session was held behind closed doors.

The homeless will be banned from living on World Heritage sites, metro stations, train stations, Liszt Ferenc Airport and the Népliget park, as well as 29 prominent underpasses in the city.
