See What Happened @ Easter Festival In Buda Castle In Budapest
Spring is well and truly here. And with it comes one of the most featured events in the Buda Castle District, the Buda Castle Easter Festival (”Budavári Húsvéti Sokadalom”).

Bringing its lovely foods, concerts and children-friendly games. You could enjoy a series of small concerts, folkdance shows, local Easter foods (milkbread or ”kalacs”, a special braided sweet loaf, which is part of the Easter celebrations, Easter hams, eggs) and more.

What was lovely about this event was the old Hungarian traditions being present, such as egg painting, putting small horse shoes and other small metal objects on eggs (known a “tojas patkolas”), carving wood, pottery, weaving, decorated ginger bread (“mezes kalacs”). Other activities were children making candels (“gyertya martas”), fishing for wooden fish, and others selling some home made crafts, jewellery, pottery.

Although Easter is mostly a family event in Hungary, there are more and more people seeking some family-friendly community event to take part in and celebrate traditional Easter festivities. This festival was a wonderful way to do this, whether you were local or just visiting.
