Xpat Opinion: Cat Cafe Budapest
Cat cafes are predominantly a Japanese phenomenon dating back to around 2004/5, where guests can have a cup of tea and pet and play with cats, or spend time simply watching them. These cafes originally came into being because of rules which prohibited animals in Asian apartments. This concept reached Budapest recently, after already spreading to various countries around the world.

The Cat Cafe opened here in early February 2013, and is the only one open in Budapest right now for the cat lovers. Located on Revay street 3, in the heart of Budapest located 5 minutes from Deak Ferenc Ter., and so is accessible with the three main metro lines of Budapest.

It is possible to make reservations for big groups as the cafe is spacious. There are two huge rooms, and one room serves as a play ground for the cats, through out the whole cafe there are tables and couches.

Since it's a cafe there are not many food options to choose from, however they have a wide range of drinks and one the favourites is a Cat-puccino, which comes with a cat paw design on top of the cappucino.

There are many cats at the cafe, over 10 at least, some can be seen sleeping in weird places, others wander around. The waitresses make sure people do not bother the cats but there are little treats visitors can buy to feed the cats, and these treats are teh best method to attract cats towards your table. The cats are all different, some are long haired and some are short, but in common they are all lovely.

If you love cats and can't have one at home then drop by Budapests only Cat Cafe, open Monday through Sunday from 10am till 10pm. For more information you can call +36 20 617 3301 or check out their facebook page at www.facebook.com/CatCafeBudapest
