US Envoy Summoned To Hungarian Ministry
Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry under-secretary Levente Magyar on Friday summoned US chargé d’affaires André Goodfriend to his office to register a protest over US President Barack Obama’s comment on the government’s attitude towards NGOs.

At a New York conference last week, Obama said “From Hungary to Egypt, endless regulations and overt intimidation increasingly target civil society”.

After the government retorted that Obama’s comment was “not factually correct”, Goodfriend told ATV that the US embassy provided information to Washington about the situation of civil society in Hungary.
