Upgrade Of Major Tram Line In Budapest Completed

During the 14 months of renovation 16 kilometres of track were renewed, 24 stops rebuilt, the power supply system was upgraded, 20 kilometres of overhead cable replaced and the line was prepared for the new Spanish CAF trams, longer than the present Tatra vehicles.
A 3.2 kilometre extension of the line is under way from the present Rákóczi híd terminus to Fehérvári út in Buda.
The costs of the upgrade totalled a net sum of Ft 27.5 billion.
