A Christmas Carol @ Budapest Operetta Theatre, On From 23 December
A legendary and well-known Christmas tale based on Charles Dickens's classic novella 'A Christmas Carol' - for everyone. The main character of 'A Christmas Carol' is Ebenezer Scrooge, the aging millionaire money-lender, who is so absorbed in worldly matters that he does not even care about Christmas at all.

He does not give charity to people either, because he believes that the poor deserve their fate. "The laws of nature prevail in our society: only the strong survives - he says - The weak must die."

Still, this cold-hearted man is given a final chance for redemption when he is visited by the ghost of his late business partner who invites him to relive the Christmases from his past. Scrooge witnesses his past Christmases, and while reflecting on his own memories, he realizes that he was much richer in his youth, before he started measuring life's worth in nothing but money.

The modern, engaging visuals take the audience into an aerial ghost world, where space and time diminishes, and future, past and present exist together at once. The memories of our past, the truths of our present and the shadows of our future tell about what we used to be, and what we could become.
