Hungarian Police Detain Racist Assault Suspect

Police have detained a prison guard, who is suspected of assaulting a student and her friend last Saturday night because he thought her friend was an illegal immigrant, it was announced on Tuesday. The woman underwent an operation on Monday which was successful. She was released from hospital on Tuesday.
Her boyfriend was born in Cuba but arrived in Hungary as an infant and works for a Szeged advertising agency.
The assailant told him to leave the country before he and others attacked the couple.
