Government Condemns Holocaust Memorial Vandalism
The Prime Minister’s Office was said it was appalled to receive reports that a menorah was stolen from a Holocaust memorial in Zalaegerszeg, in western Hungary. The PM’s Office condemned the action, saying that vandalising or desecrating any monument of Hungary’s history was impermissible.

It noted that Hungary’s government had declared a policy of zero tolerance against anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia.

A local paper reported that the brass menorah was stolen from its marble pedestal. It added that metal components of the monument had been sawn off and stolen several times since the monument was erected in 2005.
