Budapest Sziget Festivalgoers Settle In
Óbuda Island began filling up yesterday as ticket holders from across Europe began unfurling their tents in preparation for the start of the annual Sziget Festival on Wednesday.

Tickets for Thursday are already sold out, as that is when Rihanna, the biggest name at this year’s event, takes the main stage. All tickets for her concert have been snapped up.

The other biggest draws are Manu Chao, Muse, David Guetta, The Chemical Brothers and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow, when Hungarian group Ozone Mama will give the first concert at 3 p.m. and The Chemical Brothers appear on the main stage at 9:30.

Dániel Benis, technical manager of the festival, said 1,500 security staffers will serve the hundreds of thousands of visitors. At least 100,000 people will be partying on the island every night.

Chief organiser Károly Gerendai said nine ambulances will be on a standby every night.

Security has been enhanced, he said, making this the safest Sziget festival ever.
