Rising Stars. Mupa, 18 – 19 November
Guessing who might go on to become concert hall stars in the coming decades is no easy task. That though is exactly what the European Concert Hall Organisation has undertaken to do since 1995 by introducing youths aspiring to successful careers in music.

Audiences will have the chance to meet talented young musicians on or just beyond the brink of discovery at five concerts in the Rising Stars series this season. British violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Georgian pianist Mariam Batsashvili will perform at a joint concert. Portuguese clarinettist Horácio Ferreira will play a new Finnish piece composed for the Rising Stars programme in addition to music from the best known French composers.

French celloist Edgar Moreau can be considered to have established himself by his early twenties, and he will be accompanied by similarly outstanding young pianist Pierre-Yves Hodique.

The series will also see performances by the Armida Quartet—discovered at the ARD International Music Competition—and German-Korean piano phenomenon Christopher Park. All of them have proven their skills at prestigious international competitions in recent years, and some have even released recordings.
