Celebrity Legend Zsa Zsa Gabor Dies, Aged 99
The Hungarian-born former beauty star and actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, who was famous for her multiple marriages and simply for being famous, died on Sunday in Los Angeles, according to media reports.

The New York Times said Gabor was 99 at the time of her death. The Los Angeles Times quoted her longtime publicist Edward Lozzi as saying the cause of death was heart failure. The BBC reported that her husband, Frederic von Anhalt, had told the AFP news agency his wife had passed away at home, surrounded by friends and family.

Called Sari at birth in Budapest in February 1917 (Zsa Zsa was a family nickname), Gabor’s rise to fame began when she won the Miss Hungary title in 1936, although the BBC website reported she was later disqualified for lying about her age to enter the pageant.

Just before the start of World War II, Gabor emigrated to the United States with her mother Jolie and her sisters Magda and Eva. According to the New York Times, “by the 1950s, the Gabor sisters had become as well known for their love lives as for their careers.” Zsa Zsa was married at least eight times, divorcing seven of her husbands.
