Castaway Pub is located on the western coast of Koh Kood, in Klong Chao near the fabulous Away Resort. As well as happy hours featuring buy-one-get-one-free drinks, there are a range of tasty treats such as fresh seafood and BBQ meals. Sounds good, but where’s Koh Kood you may well ask…

Koh Kood is referred to as the ‘Maldives of Thailand’, by locals that is since it’s not widely known in tourist circles. It’s a largely untouched island and only those in loop have heard of its unbeatable reputation for peace and tranquillity.

The big plus is that Koh Kood’s abundance of unspoiled nature is complimented by the islander’s warm hospitality. The island boasts a rich Thai heritage and a local population of less than 5,000, known for their graciousness and relaxed attitude toward life. Here you can have a good game of pool, darts players will be happy too, as well as table football fans. Castaway has got them all, all overlooking the sea and nearby river. This is an idea place for a pit-stop on an active day of adventure, as from here you can easily arrange a range of activities, such as a kayak trip to the amazing Klong Chao Waterfall.

The entire island has a relatively untouched eco-system above and below the water, so it’s easy to enjoy the natural beauty all around, using Castaway as a safe base.

Both before or after refreshments at Castaway you could choose to explore the quaint Mangrove Forests, or go on a scuba diving expedition, or even try wild shore surfing, as plentiful opportunities abound for having unforgettable experiences on Koh Kood island.

At Castaway don’t expect loud music, cocktails in buckets and dancing on the beach until dawn, thankfully this is not that sort of joint. Instead think of it as Robinson’s local pub, in keeping with the island’s vibe it’s refreshingly laid back, with a focus on chilled-out entertainment.

If you were to meet the manager, Johnnie Pum-Usa, and ask how he sums up Castaway, then you’d hear his friendly voice say, “The atmosphere is Robinson Crusoe style, yet the place provides quality pub snacks, games and great drink promos, such as buy one get one free between 8-9.30 pm.”

Ask a fellow traveller for advice, one who’s been there recently such as Joniboy from Lancashire, and you’ll be completely convinced to visit according to his feedback on TripAdvisor,, “Food prices were good…excellent cocktails particularly the Away Dream. With a beer garden with fireflies, a pool table, dartboard, half price cocktails and excellent staff…what's not to like?”!
