Aldi To Enter Travel Agency Business
Discount German grocery chain Aldi is launching a travel website in Hungary through a partnership with Central Europe’s largest travel agency, Eurotours International, head of Aldi’s Hungarian operations Bernard Haide announced on Monday.

The retailer, which is present in Hungary with 125 stores and 2,600 employees, already sells holidays in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Eurotours International offers 55,000 hotels in 88 countries to Hungarian customers, said Eurotours International CEO Helga Freund.

Bookings can be made online, via email or by phone and there is an opportunity to cancel free of charge within the first 24 hours.

Tesco is the only other retailer to offer a similar service. The UK hypermarket chain sold holidays to some 100,000 customers in its second year of operations last year.
