Guest Nights Up 3% This August

The number of guest nights spent in commercial accommodation in Hungary rose by an annual 3% to 4,439,000 in August, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 2.3% to 2,390,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors grew by 3.8% to 2,049,000.
Overall revenue grew by 15.2% to 56 billion forints (EUR 180m). At hotels, revenue per available room jumped by 14.3% to 15,557 forints.
The average room price was up 11.8% at 21,066 forints.
The occupancy rate at hotels rose by 1.6 percentage points from August 2016 to 73.8%. In January-August total guest nights were up 6.9% compared with the same period a year earlier.
