Video: Armel Opera Festival Closing Event 5 July
The Budapest Palace of Arts and Vienna’s MuTh concert hall hosted the Armel Opera Festival between 1 - 5 July.

The July 5 closing event, Ben Johnston and Michael Ondaatje’s Calamity / Billy, set to music by Gavin Bryars, will be performed at the Budapest Palace of Arts.

Earlier: 

Swedish NorrlandsOperan’s production of Gluck’s Orfeo and Euridice opened the festival at Palace of Arts in Budapest, on July 1.

That was followed by Dejan Despić’s Give and Take, produced by the Novi Sad Serbian National Theatre on July 2.

The MuTh concert hall in Vienna presented Gergely Vajda’s The Giant Baby and Péter Eötvös’s Lady Sarashina, on July 3 and 4 respectively.

    Budapest and Vienna will jointly host the tenth Armel Opera Festival from June 28 to July 4, the festival director said. The festival will start in Budapest’s Thália Theatre with Rufus Wainwright’s Prima Donna performed by the Pécs-based Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, Ágnes Havas said.
