Solar-Powered Train Starts Running In Hungary
A solar-powered train has started operating on a narrow-gauge line in the north of Hungary. The train, which has capacity for 32 passengers, runs on the line between Márianosztra and Nagyirtás in the Börzsöny Mountains of northern Hungary.

Presenting the train at a picnic, state secretary Bence Rétvári noted that the government had allocated 2.3 billion forints (EUR 7.3m) for the development of narrow gauge railways in the Börzsöny Mountains last year.

Three of Hungary’s 21 narrow gauge lines are in the Börzsöny Mountains. They carry almost 150,000 passengers a year.
