In its original data release on September 3, Halpim said the PMI was at 53.2 points in August but it revised the figure slightly downwards in the Monday release. An index value above 50 shows expansion in the manufacturing sector, while a value under 50 signals contraction.
In September among the subindices that comprise the PMI, the production volume index was down from August but stayed above the 50 mark now for the 37th month in a row. The new orders index also fell but stayed above 50 points, showing an expansion of new orders. The current figure was above average.
Delivery times were longer than in August and the sub-index was below 50 now for the 11th month in a row. Purchased stocks showed expansion, albeit very slightly, after contracting in August for the first time after a long period.
The employment sub-index rose for the second time after two months running.
