Danube To Rise Rapidly This Week In Budapest
The level of the Danube in Budapest is expected to rise by five metres this week, as considerable amounts of rain have fallen on the catchment areas of major Hungarian rivers, the National Water Management Authority reports.

Rain has already swollen the Danube in Bavaria and Austria, as well as the Tisza river in the Zakarpattia region of Ukraine and the catchment areas of the Szamos and Körös rivers.

In Budapest the Danube is expected to peak at the weekend. However, as the river is unusually low at present, the water level will not reach the height of the lower riverside roads.
