Expect Entry Queues At IKEA, With Special Controls On Number Of Shoppers
IKEA is reopening its shops this week with the lifting of the ban on non-essential shopping, the subsidiary of the Swedish furniture and home design chain says, after all non-essential stores were ordered to close on March 8.

The IKEA units in Budaörs and in Örs vezér tere in Budapest’s 14th District open on Friday and the shop in Soroksár in the 23rd District opens on Saturday.

IKEA is deploying a new visitor counting system and is limiting capacity to one person for every 15 square metres of retail space, not 10 square metres as specified by regulations. The store’s website will indicate the number of available free places in order to inform potential visitors.

The capacity of the Örs vezér tér unit is 1,100 shoppers, the unit in Budaörs may receive 1,000 shoppers and the unit in Soroksár 1,300.

IKEA asks visitors to arrive alone and with a clear purpose.
