Passport Fraudsters Imprisoned in Hungary for Selling Fakes to Foreigners
The Pécs Court sentenced seven people involved in a fake passport operation to jail terms of three to four and a half years after convicting them of bribery and forgery of official documents.

The defendants decided to produce and sell false Hungarian passports in 2015, when many criminal groups were selling Hungarian passports to non-EU citizens.

Defendants with Ukrainian-Hungarian dual citizenship obtained official identification papers for naturalised Hungarian citizens, which were then sold to foreigners for large sums of money.

The administrator of a government window in Pécs and another of a government window in Dunaharaszti assisted in the scheme.

Almost 50 counterfeit passports were issued between January 21 and March 22, 2016. Each sold for at least €6,000.
