World Cocktail Day

We celebrate World Cocktail Day on 13^th May, a category of drink that has more than a 200-years-old history. On 13 May 1806, a New York tabloid called “The Balance and Columbian Repository” published the first written definition of a cocktail. A reader asked what a cocktail is, and the editor, Harry Croswell’s response was “Cock tail, then is a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters…”

World Cocktail Day is celebrated around the world in many bars, but we can also mix up some of our favourite cocktails at home! The reason that Harry Croswell’s definition is so important – and the reason we mark it with this day of recognition – is that it truly brought the word into the public eye, solidifying its existence in the world of spirits and “fine drinking”. And for that, Croswell, we thank you.

If you don’t feel like testing your cocktail-making skills, there are ready-made options too: try a Bellini SeiBellissimi cocktail with peach purée or a Hybou Dandy Manhattan cocktail in a bottle!

BAR SHOW BUDAPEST 2022

The Bar Show Budapest will be on 29^th May 2022 at the RaM Theatre. The Bar Show is a modern and progressive bar-cultural gathering that pools the professional figures of the bar scene along with connoisseurs interested in the world of bars and their sophisticated drinking culture.

The purpose of the Bar Show Budapest event is to ensure the momentum of the continued growth, providing an opportunity for the education and development of those interested in the bar and drinking culture.
