Cheap Train Tickets Launched for Cultural Capital Events in Hungary
MÁV is launching a Ft 2,023 discount ticket for selected events of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme, the state railway company announced.

The first event in the series is the opening ceremony, which takes place on Saturday.

Discount tickets are also available for the lines operated by the Austrian-Hungarian railway company Gysev.

The tickets are valid for a round trip from any point in Hungary to Veszprém in second class. Express train and seat reservation surcharges must be paid if needed.

The discount ticket can be used for travel to the cultural capital on the day before and during the event, and for return during the event and the day after it.

Tickets can be purchased no earlier than 60 days before the planned trip.

Prior to the summer events, the next upcoming major event for the discount will be the Blues Festival in April.
