Luxury Yacht Burns Out by 'Sziget Island' in Budapest
A 15-20 metre luxury yacht burnt out in the harbour at the southern tip of Buda’s Hajógyári-sziget early Tuesday afternoon.

In all, 20 fire-fighters and four fire engines as well as a fire-fighting boat were involved in putting out the flames.

The Wiking Yacht Club said in a statement that nobody was on board so no-one was injured.

The yacht was built in Italy in 2004 for the equivalent of Ft 3 billion, with unique luxury elements and designs by Gianni Versace, on the order of the Canadian hotel chain Le St-James, 444 reports.

The hotel used the vessel as a charter boat. After that, it was owned by a Florida owner, and then a Dutch-American consortium bought and shipped the 68-ton boat halfway around the world to Budapest to be renovated in the workshop of the Wiking harbour.

The financial damage was considerable but no other boats were damaged, due to speedy isolation.

An investigation has begun to determine the cause of the fire.
