Radio Takeover: Petőfi Changes its Tune to "Everything Hungarian"
Petőfi Rádió dismissed 15-18 of its 20-person staff on Friday, as the station changes its format, Telex reports.

Music director Attila Borcsik, known to most as DJ Izil, has received notice of dismissal.

He renewed the station’s image in 2007, and created the programmes Szimfonik Live and Petőfi Akusztik.

Borcsik changed the music selection of the station during the renewal, and the channel began to focus more on alternative Hungarian pop music.

The state-owned Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA) terminated a contract for the operation of Petőfi Rádió with the Petőfi Media Group, controlled by Szilárd Demeter, in May.

After that, IKO took over the production of the programmes.

From Sunday, Petőfi Rádió is broadcasting exclusively Hungarian music. Its new slogan is: "Petőfi Rádió - everything Hungarian."
