MOL Fuel Price Hike in Hungary to Be Introduced in Two Phases
MOL announced that it will implement an EU-mandated increase in the excise tax on fuel in two stages: raising prices by Ft 20 per litre on January 1, and by Ft 21 on January 15.

Head of retail operations András Orosz said the Ft 41 price increase could easily be enforced because of the price reductions in the second half of 2023.

In effect, MOL will pay the extra Ft 41 excise tax from January 1, but will give a discount in its retail component to consumers until January 15.

Orosz said MOL has opted for a long-term strategy to build a closer and trust-based relationship with consumers.

“Fuel is very important and, as before, we will continue to sell quality products, but it is increasingly important that the filling stations also function as service centres,” Orosz said.
