'Kitchen Exhibition', Budapest Aréna, 1 – 3 March
Hungary's largest exhibition of kitchen furniture, kitchen appliances, kitchen tools and above all kitchen trends will be held at the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena again this year.

During the event taking place from 1 - 3 March more, than 100 exhibitors will participate and will be waiting for builders, kitchen renovators and lovers of baking and cooking on nearly 8,000 square meters to get to know domestic and international novelties.

In addition to the offerings of the exhibitors' stands, the organizers are preparing numerous programs, special discounts and a high-value prize draw for the visitors at the 14th Kitchen Exhibition.

In the course of the last decade the kitchen has advanced from a side character to a protagonist, it is no longer just a service facility of a home, but even a central space equivalent to the living room.

The gastronomy and cooking as a pastime and even a hobby are being appreciated and it put the kitchen in spotlight, since the accelerated everyday life and the different schedules of family members resulted the kitchen to be often a place where people gather, while the food is being prepared.

It does matter in what environment they do it, and it's not just about the aesthetic appearance. The ergonomics is equally important, how the room is designed, if things are at hand, if it is comfortable enough to spend time there. Nowadays a good kitchen has its own style and character, from the furniture to the large and small appliances till the ladle or ice cube tray.

The kitchen is at least as much a reflection of the personality as the other spaces of the property. There are fonds of clean elegance, others look for rustic homeliness, and there are those who are inspired by unusualness, even by humor. Recently cooking is not only to satisfy a biological need, but an art. And art is entitled to have an atelier.

The Kitchen Exhibition, held for the 14th time this year, attracting annually 20,000 visitors, puts great emphasis on introducing visitors of the event to this colorful, heterogeneous world. Its aim to help them by presenting the options as broadly as possible and to create a platform to ask questions and learn from experts considering different points of views to be important.

This is essential, because the kitchen is not only for a year, we live with it for a longer period of time, so better not to compromise but to strive for perfection.

We try to present below briefly the most important trends of 2024 and to highlight the range of possibilities that you can meet on during the event held in Budapest Arena from 1 - 3March.

Environment-conscious design and smart devices

It is not necessary to think, that a kitchen can only be environmentally friendly if we renovate the old one, i.e. we save as much as possible. Natural materials, furniture made with the smallest possible ecological footprint or energy-saving devices are increasingly important factors during designing a kitchen.

The convenience functions of the smart devices increase the comfort, and more and more people are looking for them. These devices store a lot of data and analyze our habits, and they also help us to waste less energy without a reason.

Non-ostentatious materials

Wood, terracotta, cement, terrazzo, brass, ceramics - materials don't mean to be more, than what they are. They are not covered by a novel surface treatment process, but they are honest and contain something rustic and natural even in case of a modern approach.

They are perfect choices for covering floors and walls, but we can also highlight a kitchen island with them. We're not saying that different foils or other solutions of layered front panels are out of fashion, but style and honesty somehow go hand in hand now.

Of course, this is usually reflected in the price, but it is evident, that even the most lifelike marble sample will never look as good as real marble or even a cheaper type of stone.

Colors and lights

While in the past it was typical to hang a spectacular light fixture, eg. a crystal chandelier or a modern designer piece above the central element of the kitchen - be it a dining table or a kitchen island -  the focus will be on lamps with a simpler design in 2024.

The careful planning of the lighting is even more important, as it sets the tone for the entire interior. Warm tones will be desired more this year according to the trend forecasts and the lights should also emphasize this.

Renaissance of furniture

The hegemony of the kitchen island and bars is beginning to decline, and the dining table is increasingly reclaiming its former place in the kitchen.

The built-in seating surfaces, which have been considered mostly for their practicality, are also becoming more and more fashionable - obviously thanks to the design of cafes and restaurants, where this solution is a standard feature.

So the conclusion can perhaps be made that design elements important only from a visual point of view are phasing out of the everyday home decoration in order to allow the old, well-known players to return.

In addition to the stands of brands, distributors and designers, the organizers also prepared programs for the weekend. Besides the book presentations and dedications, Michelin-star chefs, young talents, bloggers and celebrities will share their recipes with the audience on the Samsung main stage, even introducing the viewers to new kitchen technology practices.

Among others, there will be a chance to meet the favorites of many, Ákos Sárközi and András Szabó - the chefs of the Green Michelin star Villa Kabala in Szigliget,  András Tarjányi, the steakhouse champion, or Inez Zaida Kiss, winner of the European Young Chef Award.

Those who enjoy flipping through gastro books can autograph his new book, So I Became a Chef by Ákos Sárközi, as well as to get the books of award-winning confectioner Judit Horváth, who develops free-from-all recipes.

Furthermore, the master barista Döníz Kiss, expert reviewer of James Hoffmann’s book ”How to make perfect coffee at home?,, will talk about how you can make perfect coffee even in your own home at the presentation combined with the coffee tasting.

There will be free kitchen design advice again, for which you can register in advance on the exhibition website, and there will also be a prize draw. The main prize of which this year is a complete kitchen furniture worth HUF 2.5 million, adapted to his own needs and home of the winner!

Tickets for the Kitchen Exhibition can be purchased in advance at a discount on the website, where all the additional information can be found as well. It would be a pity to miss the hottest Hungarian cuisine event of the year!
