New Coins Now Circulating in Hungary, Including a Silver One Worth HUF 50,000

A new Ft 100 coin will be released on May 16, in honour of the MNB’s centenary. The obverse depicts the MNB logo and a decorative motif inspired by a 1924 share certificate, with inscriptions commemorating 100 years of a stable monetary system.

Minted in 2024, the coin has entered circulation alongside the  existing Ft 100 coin.

In addition, the MNB issued a silver coin with a face value of Ft 50,000 - minted from '925 silver' with gold plating.

Forint Hits 18-Month High

By early Wednesday evening, the euro's exchange rate approached 381 Forints, marking an 18-month high for the Hungarian currency. The euro stood above 384 Forints on Wednesday morning, but the Forint began to strengthen steadily from 11 AM, with the rate falling below 381.7 Forints just before 7 PM.
