Burger Battle in Hungary: Top 2 Chains Close Stellar Year, Who Won?

Revenue at McDonald’s grew by 24% to Ft 91 billion last year, while net profit increased by 10.8% to Ft 6.2 billion.
Burger King’s growth figures outshone those of its rival, with sales up by 39% from the previous year to Ft 56.2 billion, and net profit growing by 57.4% to Ft 4.6 billion.
As both chains increased staff, the average number of employees at McDonald’s rose from 2,671 in 2022 to 2,927 in 2023, while wage expenditures grew by 19.1% to Ft 15.7 billion.
The number of people working at Burger King in 2023 was 1,539 on average, compared to 1,371 in 2022. Burger King spent Ft 8.8 billion on wage-related expenditures in 2023, up 30% from 2022.
The average gross monthly wage rose by 16% to Ft 474,854 at McDonald’s while the same figures for Burger King were 0.9% and Ft 448,075.
