Transport Minister Refuses to Take Hungarian Train Ride with Magyar
A meeting of Construction and Transport Minister János Lázár and Tisza Party leader Péter Magyar to discuss railway issues, while agreed upon in principle, looks increasingly unlikely, as the two sides cannot agree on the place or circumstances.

Magyar has invited Lázár to share a train ride from Budapest to Salgótarján and Ózd to experience the rail service as ordinary people do, but Lázár has refused.

Lázár said he has no objection to Magyar visiting MÁV properties with cameras or media present, but will not be part of one of Magyar’s campaigns. implying Magyar is more focused on his campaign than on improving railway conditions.

He offered to meet at the Kőbánya and Kerepesi control centre, without media present, to discuss real issues, not for a “reality show.”

Magyar quickly countered, suggesting Lázár is avoiding the meeting to prevent potential delays and uncomfortable discussions about poor working conditions.

Earlier, Magyar had asked Lázár to confirm by Wednesday evening whether he would share a train ride.
