FBZ Hungaria managing director Laszlo Baradacs said the agreement on the delivery of down for the Guvet brand would generate "several million dollars" of turnover a year. Guvet jackets sell for between USD 600 and 3,000 apiece, he added.

With a 12,000sqm base in Kecskemet (C Hungary), FBZ Hungaria has one of the largest feather and down processing capacities in Europe.

Last year, China imported 938 tonnes of down and feathers from Hungary.

Wu Kunming, the chairman of Guvet Group, said the company had chosen FBZ Hungaria as a supplier with an eye to getting materials of the highest quality. He added that the Hungarian company already supplied a number of well-known international brands.

FBZ Hungary had revenue of HUF 18.2bn last year, public records show.
