The company told MTI on Wednesday that it operates hundreds of contactless terminals throughout its catering units, where payments can be made with a bank card, mobile phone or Festipay card. The system has already been successfully used in Bahrain.
Attila Solti, member of the board of directors of Festipay Zrt, said that those arriving with cash can use a prepaid card, the unused part of which can be exchanged for cash free of charge at the end of the event.
"As part of the Hungaroring's continuous renewal, cashless payments are exclusively available in the catering units during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.
The inclusion of Festipay ensures faster, more convenient and safer shopping for fans and contributes to ensuring a modern, European-quality experience at the Hungaroring," Zsolt Gyulay, President and CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt was quoted in the statement.
Festipay Zrt.'s revenue increased by 3 percent last year to HUF 1.26 billion from HUF 1.22 billion a year earlier, and its after-tax profit increased more than 25 times, to nearly HUF 138 million from HUF 5.3 million in 2023.
Festipay is the most significant integrated event management service provider in Central Europe, employing nearly 300 seasonal workers during the summer festival season.
