Free Concerts to Mark 200th 'Anna Ball' by Lake Balaton, 22 - 26 July
True to tradition, the ballet dancers of the Hungarian State Opera House will open the 200-year-old Anna Ball in Füred on Saturday 26 July in the ornamental garden of the Anna Grand Hotel, the Opera House informed MTI.

According to the announcement, as part of the Anna Festival leading up to the event, the artists of the songwriters will give free choir and symphony gala concerts at Gyógy Square.

At Thursday's concert, the Hungarian State Opera Chorus will perform works by Beethoven, Erkel, Gounod, Puccini, Verdi, and the composer duo Szörényi-Bródy.

The repertoire includes choral excerpts, arias and ensembles from The Masked Ball, The Count, Faust, Fidelio, Stephen the King and Turandot.

This year, more than ever before, a total of 14 solo singers will participate in the program. The performers will be Máté Ágoston, Viktória Avedikian, Antal Bakó, Péter Balás, Katalin Lénárd Cserhalminé, József Csobolya, Dorottya Győrffy, Attila Gulyásik, Anikó Lakai, Róbert Lakai, Eszter Magyari, Miroslav Mehandziev, Tamás Pekárdy and Katalin Töreky.

The performance, accompanied by Kisztina M. Szabó on the piano, is conducted by Gábor Csiki, choir director of the Hungarian State Opera House.

The following day, the parts of Bán Bánk, Háry János and Hunyadi László will be performed by the Opera House's leading soloists. The productions of Gabriella Balga, Szabolcs Brickner, Csaba Szegedi and Zita Szemere will be accompanied by the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra conducted by Dániel Erdélyi. 

Both evenings will be hosted by Szilveszter Ókovács, General Director of the Hungarian State Opera House.
 

The Saturday evening program of the 200th Anna Ball, followed by the opening dances of the ball, will be performed by eight couples of the Hungarian National Ballet in the ornamental garden of the Anna Grand Hotel.

Guests can see the Palace and Anna-ballet waltz by Jenő Huszka from Erkel's opera László Hunyadi, choreographed by ballet master György Szirb.

Performers include Janka Dobra, Claudia García Carriera, Anna Fülöp, Adrienn Horányi, Anastasiia Hurska, Elena Sharipova, Dóra Szelényi, Katerina Taraszova, as well as Tymofiy Bykovets, Demeter Kóbor, Maxim Kovtun, Kamill Kökény-Hámori, Vlagyiszlav Melnyik, Dávid Molnár, Vince Topolánszky and Daniyar Zhumatayev, with the participation of the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra.
