'ArtPicnic' Invite: Ceredi Artists to Celebrate 30th Anniversary with European Guests
The Cered Art Colony, which is 30 years old this year, will celebrate with what they call an ArtPiknik on August 9th. In addition to fine art, visitors will also be treated to local gastro delights, family programs, music concerts and theater productions, Csaba Fürjesi, one of the founders of the art colony, told MTI.

Fürjesi said that the films of the 30-year-old artist colony will be screened at the picnic, and on that day they will receive the International Visegrád Award, which the artist colony earned for its achievements in cultivating the Central European spirit and in cultural cooperation between the Visegrád countries.

The nearly 400 square meter ArtComplex at the Cered artist colony also awaits visitors with a contemporary gallery, a graphic studio and the new permanent exhibition, Museum'80. The doors will open at 10:30.

The festive exhibition, the international exhibition titled Ritus X Cered, will open at 11 a.m. with materials from the 2025 international symposia, followed by an exhibition of the works of sculptors Pál Németh and Jozef Suchoza.

The opening of ArtPiknik will begin at 3 p.m. at the Rönkszínház with the participation of the Cered folk choir. In the evening, the Kelet Brass Band and the Varga Livius Show Band will give a concert.

There will be a giant painting, as well as two workshops: artist Gergő Mizsák will present the history, use, technical possibilities and application of acrylic paint, and artist Dániel Tomecz will present the history, use, technical possibilities and application of oil paint.

In the program entitled Open Studios at the Artist Colony, poet, sound performer, and visual artist Kinga Tóth will give guided tours in the gallery, sculptor Jozef Suchoža in the Sculpture House, and philosopher Kristóf Bognár in the Kor-Társ-Táj-Ház.

At the ArtPiknik in Cered, there will be a creative children's tent, street music, a Paloc kitchen in the garden and a tasting of Mátra Valley wines.

The jubilee artist colony received numerous welcome emails, and the Message Wall international mail-art exhibition, compiled from these, will be presented by photographer Olívia Zséger, followed by a screening of the films of the 30-year-old artist colony.

ArtColony Cered has become a key player in contemporary art since its establishment in 1996. They organize numerous art projects, including the Ceredi Contemporary International Art Colony.

It's said that part of the creative work here is the 'meeting up' and 'getting to know' the local villagers and artists from various European cities.

The joint creative work takes place on a different theme each year, and the basic idea is Cered, its traditions, everyday objects, and the landscape surrounding the village.
