Budapest Street Closures Begin Early for 20 August National Holiday
- 11 Aug 2025 6:08 PM
Four Types of Restrictions
The police have grouped the changes into four categories:
-
Full road closures – some streets will be completely closed to all traffic.
-
Partial or time-based closures – access will be blocked only at certain times.
-
Temporary suspension of one-way rules – allowing traffic in both directions on selected streets.
-
No-stopping zones – strict parking bans in designated areas.
For example, parking is prohibited from 00:00 on 9 August until 06:00 on 23 August on:
-
Jane Haining rakpart, from the Mahart International Ship Station to Sörház utca (Districts I, II and V)
-
The riverside side of Sztehlo Gábor rakpart, from Margaret Bridge to the area near Halász utca
Vehicle Removal & Hotline
Cars parked in no-stopping zones risk being towed. Vehicle owners can find out where their car has been taken by calling the police’s free hotline at 06-80-180-780, as noted on police.hu.
