Analysts See Forint Staying Strong
- 18 Sep 2025 7:07 AM
Zoltan Arokszallasi, the lender's chief analyst, said at a press conference on Wednesday that the forint could trade at 397.5 to the euro at year-end and he put the average annual exchange rate at HUF 401.
He attributed the firmer forint to expectations for loosening by the United States Federal Reserve and Hungary's high base rate along with the central bank's stress on maintaining tight monetary policy.
Arokszallasi said the HUF/EUR exchange rate could average 400.3 in 2026.
MBH Bank analysts expect GDP growth to reach 0.8pc in 2025, as industry, agriculture and investments slump, but see a recovery in 2026, with growth as high as 3pc.
Arokszallasi said the general government deficit could reach 4.6pc of GDP in 2025, an improvement over the 4.9pc in 2024.
