Bluetongue Disease Detected in Hungary

The organisation ordered an observation lockdown of the farm. The disease can be prevented with a vaccine, and the appropriate vaccine is available, it added.
According to Nebih, bluetongue disease is present in 21 EU member states and does not pose a food safety risk.
Meanwhile, WOAH restores Hungary's FMD-free status
The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) officially restored Hungary's designation as free of foot and mouth disease on September 10, Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy said.
The designation will support exports to countries outside of the European Union, Nagy said.
In the spring, outbreaks of FMD were detected in Hungary for the first time in 50 years, but the disease was contained.
