'Slovenian Film Days' in Budapest to Present Award-Winning Films, 2 - 4 October
- 2 Oct 2025 6:21 AM
The screening series will start on October 2 with Urška Djukić's coming-of-age story "There's Something in the Air" (Kaj ti je deklica).
The production won the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film at the Berlin International Film Festival in the Perspective section, the Best Cinematography Award in the international program of the American Tribeca Film Festival, and the Best Editing Award at the Pula Film Festival, and is also in the competition program of the soon-to-be-started CineFest Miskolc International Film Festival.
The film's protagonist, 16-year-old introverted Lucia, befriends the popular Ana-Maria in a girls' choir. This friendship tests her and threatens the harmony within the choir. The girl begins to explore her sexuality, questioning her previous values.
The event series will also screen Klemen Dvornik's film The Playground Is Ours (Igrišča ne damo!), which debuted at the Locarno Film Festival and won the Best Children's Film Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival, and the Children's Jury Prize at the Zagreb Film Festival and the Olympia International Children's and Youth Film Festival in Greece.
When the film's main character, Alma, learns that the playground in front of their house is about to be demolished and the trees cut down, she teams up with her biggest enemy and her gang. The team has one week to save the playground, the synopsis reads.
The audience can also watch Gregor Andolšek's comedy This is Robbery! (To je rop!) in which Rajkó, the magician, breaks his arm during a performance. But the troubles don't end there, as the insurance company refuses to pay his insurance claim due to an administrative error. Then events take a mind-boggling turn, the press release states.
The 9th Slovenian Film Days are organized in cooperation with the Slovenian Film Center, BudapestFilm Zrt. and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Budapest.
