Csaba Sausage Festival Will be Held in S.E. Hungary, 23 - 26 October
One of Hungary's largest gastro-cultural events, the Csaba Sausage Festival (Csabai Kolbászfesztivál), will be held in Békéscsaba between October 23-26.

As a prelude to the festival, the judging of the international 'dry sausage' competition will be held on October 9th at the Csaba Event Barn. The awards will be presented on the opening day of the festival.

The 'dry sausage' competition was open to entries with dry sausages stuffed in artificial and natural casings. Meat plants, private individuals, and those making sausages for sale or for their own consumption were all eligible to apply.

In accordance with tradition at the 28th such sausage fest, the focus again this year will be on Csaba sausage and traditional programs, there will be a pig slaughtering demonstration, a craft fair, an agricultural exhibition, and programs for families will also be offered.

Organizers emphasized that they are waiting for all generations with diverse gastro, cultural and musical programs.

On the opening day of the festival, October 23, the main role will be played by children: kindergarteners and schoolchildren will compete in a sausage-making competition.

The day starts on Friday with a sausage-making competition for high school and university students.

The festival culminates on Saturday, when the international sausage-making competition takes place.

Sunday will be a day of families and traditions: in addition to the companies' sausage-making competition, the audience will be treated to a stuffed cabbage cooking competition and colorful closing programs. The Alma Együttes and the Kicsi Gesztenye Klub are for children.

Performers at the ticketed events will include the Csík Zenekar, the Bagossy Brothers Company, Beton.Hofi, the Bohemian Betyars, the Parno Graszt, the Gypo Circus with Jennifer Szirota, Follow The Flow, Halott Pénz, Ádám Fásy and the Gypsy Kings, as well as NOX, DESH and Lili Regán.
