New Zenit Corso Shopping Complex in Budapest Features Hungary’s Largest Aldi Store
- 22 Oct 2025 1:40 PM
Zenit Corso is designed to serve both local residents and future office workers, with retail offerings complemented by a two-story underground garage providing 530 parking spaces exclusively for the shopping center, offices, and apartments.
Major retail tenants include CCC, KiK, and Fressnapf, and 90% of the available stores have already been leased.
Mixed-Use Development and Urban Upgrades
Alongside the shopping center and offices, the project includes 168 new apartments. The development also involved significant upgrades to public areas, infrastructure, and utilities.
Public transport improvements were coordinated with the city, including the creation of dedicated bus lanes and plans for potential future fixed-track connections.
The Bosnyák Square area received major attention during the project. Renovations covered road sections and surrounding spaces, particularly along Csömöri út and Rákospatak utca.
As part of the infrastructure upgrade, a 914-meter section of Csömöri Road between Nagy Lajos király útja (Bosnyák Square) and Rákospatak Street was renovated. Additionally, a 400-meter-long new road, including a bridge over the Rákos stream, was constructed alongside the existing road.
Improved Traffic Flow and Public Transport
A key feature of the development is the separation of public transport from car traffic. Buses now run on a protected 2×1 bus lane, improving reliability and reducing congestion. Rákospatak Street has also been upgraded with new road structures, including a new bus terminus and bays to prevent traffic delays behind stopping buses.
Barrier-free bus stops have been installed near Bosnyák Square, Fűrész Street, and the Lantos Mihály Sports Center.
Vezér Street, extending from Rákospatak Street, received a 210-meter new lane, while the existing road was rebuilt. The 2×1 lane bridge at the end of Csömöri Road was also expanded to allow buses to pass freely without rerouting the adjacent bike lane.
Public Utilities and Green Spaces
Modernization of public utilities was another important element of the project, including the replacement of a 400-meter outdated water main.
Green infrastructure improvements were extensive: trees were planted along more than half a kilometer of Csömöri Road, and high-quality vegetation was added to public areas.
The development also created park-like spaces with irrigation systems to ensure sustainable greenery.
