Celtic Halloween Celebration at Aquincum Museum, 1 October
Samhain, or the Celtic Halloween festival, will be held at the Aquincum Museum on October 31st from the afternoon until late evening, where Celtic tales, craft workshops, a fire duel and a costume contest await those interested.

Eastern Celtic peoples lived in the Pannonia province before the Roman era, and little is known about their customs, but they probably also celebrated the Samhain festival, known from Western Celtic tradition, which marks the end of summer work, the press statement says.

Visitors to the museum can visit a "traditionalists' camp", where they can learn about the lifestyle and clothing of the Celts, immerse themselves in the world of Celtic tales, and test their creativity in the pumpkin carving and costume contest.

Those who are not afraid of supernatural forces can test themselves in the "horror trail " adventure game, which combines Celtic and modern, as well as this world and the otherworldly elements.

Also according to the press statement, "those who would like to approach the Celts and their image of the afterlife in a scientific way can learn about the burial customs and ceremonies of the Celtic cemetery excavated on Csepel Island

- the tombstones erected for Celtic individuals in the area of present-day Budapest in the period following the Roman conquest, and the special custom discovered among local Celtic dignitaries, the phenomenon of wagon burials, at the archaeological lectures".

Children can enjoy games of skill and Celtic-inspired crafts, while fortune tellers will be on hand, as well as a Halloween treasure hunt, during which participants can use their own lanterns to fight off ghosts.

The evening will conclude with a Celtic fire duel, Irish dance, fire juggling, and a Celtic legend coming to life.
