Record Store Day Returns with Exclusive Releases & Events in Hungary on 12 April
Music lovers can once again enjoy Record Store Day (RSD), as this Saturday there will be exclusive domestic and international releases, and of course the participation of several key record stores in Hungary.

The ambassador for this year's 18th international celebration is American artist Post Malone.

Launched in 2007 in the United States, RSD was created to support and celebrate independent record stores struggling to survive in the digital age.

Hungarian stores Wave and Musicland joined the movement in 2010, marking the country’s first participation.

Every year, record labels and artists worldwide create exclusive physical releases for the occasion. Today, the event spans around 1,000 stores across 30 countries, and Hungary has joined in the vinyl revival with eight participating record shops.

In addition to Wave and Musicland/Neon Music, Deep, MG Records, Kalóz Records, Lemezkuckó, Soul Cure Records (all in Budapest), and Silent Parrot in Szeged will welcome visitors with extended hours, live programs, mini-concerts, limited-edition releases, and special discounts.

At Kalóz Records, DJs Kanada Káosz, Splatter, Peti Szamosi, Ábel Telenkó, and the Kalóz staff will take turns spinning records, while Feri Vértesi will perform a live guitar set.

Over at MG Records, Bigfoot Preston and Bence’s Adventures will give an acoustic concert starting at 2 p.m. At Soul Cure Records, sets by Boros Levi (from Qualitons), Chillum Trio, VuduDudu, Takeshi, Klayman, and Pleasure Voyage will keep the energy high.

Musicland will offer a 10% discount on all used CDs, LPs, and DVDs.

The location at Almássy Square will host music from 11 a.m., featuring performances by Billy Rotten, DJ Aranykalász & The Mute Tapes, Jehova & DJ Csuklya, Noémi Barkóczi, Upponyi Muki & 1 Euro Water Buns, followed by The Somersault Boy, and closing with Maxi & Geri (Dalmata Daniel).

Special Hungarian releases this year include Dogs in the Wild by The Somersault Boy (László Sallai’s band), available on CD and cassette. Also on offer, though not Hungarian, is a limited color vinyl edition of Oracle (2007), an EP by Sunn O))), the drone metal band featuring Attila Csihar.

Among the over 400 exclusive international RSD titles, highlights include:

* A vinyl of demos from A-ha’s 1984 debut Hunting High & Low
* A collaborative single from George Harrison and Beck titled Be Here Now
* David Bowie’s 2003 studio concert Ready, Set, Go! on LP and CD
* An alternate version of The Doors’ 1967 classic Strange Days
* A 1979 concert by Elton John and Ray Cooper
* A reissue of Astrud Gilberto’s 1977 bossa nova album That Girl From Ipanema
