Entry to the annual ranking compiled by Forbes magazine now requires personal wealth of at least Ft 20 billion.

The top tier remains stable. Lőrinc Mészáros retains first place with an estimated net worth of Ft 1.6 trillion, followed by Sándor Csányi with Ft 935 billion and Zsolt Felcsuti with Ft 594 billion. All three became 13-14% richer.

Four new entrants joined the list this year. Tibor Pavelka ranks 10th with Ft 309 billion, followed by Ernő and Zsolt Barabás in 14th place with Ft 189.9 billion, Dávid Mészáros at 57th with Ft 56.1 billion, and László Wolf at 92nd with Ft 28.6 billion.

The newcomers reflect a mix of industrial, consumer and financial wealth creation. Pavelka’s fortune is linked to Semilab Semiconductor Physics Laboratory, which sold its US subsidiary to Onto Innovation Inc. for nearly Ft 150 billion.

The Barabás brothers control Hell Energy, a leading domestic energy drink producer.
