"László Hortobágyi was born in 1950 and has been researching and collecting North Indian music since the age of seventeen. He has also studied rudra-vina, sitar, surbahar and tabla playing. In 1980, he founded the Gáyan Uttejak Society, inspired by the Hindu-Mohammedan music society led by V. N. Bhatkhande from 1884 to 1917. From 1984, the Gáyan Uttejak Orchestra became the “house band” of the Society. more »
