Around 250 guests from the international community, including the US Ambassador, AmCham President and several from the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, enjoyed the "ultimate thanksgiving dinner in Budapest" on Tuesday 21 November, 7-10:00 pm.
Many members brought along the whole family, with children aged 12 and under enjoying clowns, food and drinks for free - thanks to main sponsor ORCO Property Group. Members paid HUF 12 000 + VAT / person, while the cost to non-members was HUF 22 000 + VAT / person, with kids between 13-18 years receiving 50% discount.
The hotel presented a feast of over 40 festive dishes, favourites included: Mississippi fish terrine with vegetables, baked ham with pineapple-seeded mustard glaze, traditional maple roasted turkey garnished with apple and bacon cornbread stuffing and giblet gravy, and sweet potatoes glazed with honey.
The popular pumpkin pie disappeared quickly, but there was a fine array of other desserts to keep guests happy, such as: chestnut bavarois, pecan pie, apple strudel with cranberry sauce, and traditional cheesecake to name just a few.
To nicely round off the event many US citizens along with expats from around the world and internationally-minded locals joined in a charity auction to support the AmCham Foundation, with auctioned items including: air tickets, hotel stays, an Xbox 360, a week with a Smart roadster from Fox Autorent, and numerous vouchers from generous 5 star hotels in Budapest.
