Xpat Interview: Jerry Halford

Married to a Hungarian, with two children. Also 2 teenagers living in Oxford.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
 8+ years ago I arrived as managing director of Bridge FM 102.1 - after 2 years sold it to Sztar fm

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
No- just a few 6 month stints, not enough to call myself an expiate more a visitor

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
It was modern and lively, not grey and depressing

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend--what must they absolutely see and do?
On my list are: baths, fatal étterem (great local food) indoor market, view from the Citadella.

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
All the soups

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Milk for my English tea

7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Munkadessiengadi & természetesen

8. What do you miss the most from home?
Trust in the workplace

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Full time racing driver (bit of a boy at heart)

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
There is not a job but the conditions of the offer I might turn down

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Christmas at home here in Hungary

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Back to the USA to see my friends 2008

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Artist: Michael Jackson, Film Star wars Hobby fishing

14. What can't you resist?
A good night out with my friends

15. Red wine or white?
Both great -drink lots of each

16. Book or movie?
Movie- James Bond latest was above my expectations

17. Morning person or night person?
Both - I am lucky in that respect

18. Dog person or cat person?
Cleaning up waste after a baby is enough let alone a pet?s poo!

19. Buda side or Pest side?
Live on Pest as transport is great

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
Get it done!
