Blocked Danube Cost Shippers Up to 1 Billion Euros

Yahoo sources tell that shipping firms operating barge traffic on the Danube, one of the key freight routes in central Europe, lost revenues of up to one billion euros ($888 million) after the river was blocked by NATO's 1999 bombing campaign against Yugoslavia.
