Now Showing In Budapest: 'The Heartbreak Kid'

Now Showing In Budapest: 'The Heartbreak Kid'
"After years of bachelorhood and ample pressure from his father, and best friend, Eddie starts to wonder if he is being too picky about the women he meets. So when a chance encounter with an alluring blonde named Lila leads to a sweet romance, Eddie impulsively proposes. But right after the wedding, as the newlyweds get to know each other on the drive down the California coast, Eddie begins to realize he’s made a terrible mistake."

Movie type: Comedy - This is a crude, raunchy romantic comedy along the lines of Ben Stiller and the Farrelly Brothers' previous collaboration, There's Something About Mary. There are a lot of crass, gross-out, potentially offensive gags that make the film squarely aimed at the young adult, particularly male, market.

Director: Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly

Script: Kevin Barnett, Leslie Dixon, Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, Neil Simon

Starring: Ben Stiller (Eddie Cantrow), Michelle Monaghan (Miranda), Malin Akerman (Lila), Jerry Stiller (Doc)

Length: 1 hr. 56 min.

Reviews:

”Average The Heartbreak Kid, while not without its share of tiny, ephemeral pleasures, is a surprisingly flat and unamusing comedy. “Berardinelli, Internet Critic

”Average There are small moments of real humor...But the film is a squirmy miscalculation of tone.” Roger Ebert

”Above Average The Heartbreak Kid, which, while not the best of their raucous fare, is merrily quintessential Farrelly.” USA Today

”Above Average ...the Farrelly Brothers redo Neil Simon and Elaine May’s perennially popular 1972 comedy THE HEARTBREAK KID. The results feel slack – sometimes funny, but slack.” TV Guide Online
